IOS Performance Tweaks (Apple)

Aus Matts Wiki

This article contains performance tweaks I found to improve performance either by improving speed or reducing battery consumption.

iOS 17 and greater

Settings → General → Background App Refresh

From here you have two options:

  1. Go to Background App Refresh → select Off
  2. Select on a per app basis which apps are allowed to do background refresh

Option 1 probably prevents messaging apps and apps requesting two-factor authentication like banking apps from working. Therefore it option is only recommended on a smart phone which does not have this type of apps.

For consumer smart phones it is probably safer not to deactivate the background app refresh all together but rather go for option 2 by deactivating all background refresh on a per app basis and then enable it for every app which seems not to work as expected, i.e. if it does not provide timely notifications.

iOS 26 and greater
